Your New River Guide

Hey I am the New River Guide for the Spring and the Brook. Jo Lee, and here is a little bit about me and my family:

About Me

I am a 27 year old home town girl with 2 beautiful kids. I grew up, went to college, and got married in Durango and the nearby Bayfield. I love Colorado; I love living in a small town in Colorado (even if there is no big malls or Target). This is were God has called me and I am content.

Kids: Anna Lisa (our first surprise – as a honeymoon baby) is 5 years old this month and is in preschool that I currently homeschool. Benen Elijah is 21 months (turning 2 in June), and he was our second little surprise (if you do not know the story I would love to tell you just ask).

Husband: Matt plays the guitar and sometimes the drums on the worship team.

My background: I have served in children's ministries sense I was in junior high. I served on the youth leadership team for 4 years. I was an elementary education major. I also worked in after school and daycare programs for 4 years.

Teaching and serving children in ministry is a long time dream that God has placed on my heart. I am excited to help you in whatever way I can to see this little ones experience everything God has for them.

March New's!

Dear Parents/ Guardian,

I pray this letter finds you and your family enjoying a great start to the new year! It is amazing how time has flown by and how we are already starting March! This month we will be starting back up the prayer cards! I have been a little bit of a slacker about this since we have had all the classroom changes so I apologize but this has really been on my heart. So if you see that your child has a thing that looks like a luggage tag back on their diaper bag please leave it this time and we will make sure to have new prayers each week. I truly believe that we need to pray over our babies at an early age and we are so honored that we get to pray along side you over your child! We encourage you to also pray over your child each day! We as teachers are going to start praying through out the week over each student that was in our class and we will pray what is on that card!

This month we are going to try going a little green! :) We are asking that each parent bring their child a sippy cup with them! If you are a regular attender and would like to just bring a sippy cup with your child's name on it and leave it we will be happy to wash it and have it ready every week! If not would you please make sure to bring your child a sippy cup each week! :)

We are truly enjoying each and everyone of your kids and love watching them grow into little people who love Jesus! Thank you for allowing us the pleasure to teach your child! If you have any questions feel free to contact me!

Exciting things Happening with the River kids!

So I thought I would tell you guys about an exciting thing that is happening through out the River kids ministries! The River Trippers have started a reward system where if they bring their bible, bring a friend, bring tithe, and/or memorize there memory verse for the week they get a sticker for each one they do each week! Each time a child gets 10 stickers they get to pick an area of the church they would like to serve in. One of the areas is children's ministry which would mean the younger kids! Last week we had Grace Kline come and help in The Spring as well as in The Brook she loved it and the kids loved her! We are looking forward to seeing more of our older river kids coming and serving in our younger classes as well as other areas of the church! The River Trippers are working hard to earn their stickers and really do enjoy serving so when you see a river kid serving in our church make sure to give them a high five and tell them what an amazing job they are doing! It is so awesome to watch our kids serve Jesus and our church family!
